CALL

Hi there! How you guys are doing so far?

In this post I'll be sharing with you guys about Computer-Assisted Language Learning. Let's go straight up to definition of CALL. It is defined as the are of technology and second language teaching and learning (Chapelle, 2001). Actually there are quite plenty of definition given by the experts and I'm taking this as it simpler to be understood.

Moving on to the phases of CALL; Behaviouristic CALL, Communicative CALL and Integrative CALL. Next thing is there are types of CALL programs. They are:-

CALL-specific software: it is an applications to facilitate and develop language learning like CD-Roms, web-based interactive language learning exercise

Generic software: it is designated for general purpose for instance the word processing (MS Words), presentation software (MS Powerpoint). These are the example of software that can help in language learning.

Web-based learning programs: programs on the internet like online dictionaries, online encyclopedias, we publishing or even blog!

Computer mediated communication (CMC) program: it is divided into two; synchronous like online chat or asynchronous like emails, discussion forums.

Alright, friends! There you go a bit of explanation on CALL. Anyway if you guys want to know more about this, here is the link to a video of explaining what CALL is. Hope it helps!
